The 5 Best, Pet-Friendly Hotels in Boulder

In Where to Stay by Isabelle Nagel-Brice0 Comments

Boulder loves its animals. You can find many high-end pet stores in town,  dog-friendly bar patios and the Humane Society of Boulder Valley adopted out more than 5,000 pets in 2015 and 2016.

Surrounded by a belt of open space with trails welcoming to canine companions — and with popular dog parks to mingle with furry and human friends and breweries that allow dogs to hang — Boulder is a great destination to enjoy with your pup.

It might seem that finding lodging that will accept your four-legged friend is a daunting part of planning your trip, but not in Boulder. Here are the five best, pet-friendly places to stay on your next visit to Boulder.

1. Boulder Adventure Lodge (A-Lodge)

The A-Lodge is built around three principles: access, adventure and amenities.

Local tip: Always call your accommodation of choice before arriving to plan your stay with your pet. Some hotels have limited pet-friendly rooms available or may have recently changed their pet policy.

It’s located just a couple miles from downtown Boulder, up Canyon Boulevard, where visitors can enjoy a tranquil mountain setting along Fourmile Creek. The A-Lodge has loads of recommendations of where to climb, fish, hike, ski, swim and get active. It’s the best spot in town for outdoor enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the Rocky Mountains.

The A-Lodge has dormitory-style sleeping arrangements, private rooms and a separate cabin that sleeps six. Outdoor perks include a hot tub, slackline park, fire pit, movie theater and more.

Gunner, the owners’ partner with four legs, is always around to welcome guests and their pets. Up to one pet is permitted per room with no additional fees, although no animals can be left unattended in rooms. Other perks: free doggie pick-up bags and lots of nearby dog-friendly trails.

“We strive to make pet owners feel at home here at the A-Lodge. Its not uncommon to see a couple friendly dogs outside playing, and we have never had any dog related incidents,” says Asa Firestone, co-owner of the lodge.

You and your dog can enjoy the fresh mountain air while exploring the grounds, or on your outdoor adventures around Boulder. Overall, it’s a prime accommodation choice for an outdoorsy trip with your pup.

2. Boulder Inn – Best Western Plus

Boulder Inn is located in South Boulder near the University of Colorado. This hotel has pet-friendly rooms available on the first floor and it takes a fully-refundable $50 pet deposit at check-in. It claims to be the only hotel in Boulder with a refundable fee. It also offers free doggie waste bags to make it easy to pick up after your pet.

Pets are not allowed to be groomed or left alone in rooms.

However, Boulder Inn has great recommendations for pet adventures in Boulder, including grooming, doggie day care and veterinary care. It lists its referrals online and can also offer advice at the front desk.

3. Basecamp Hotel Boulder

The Basecamp Hotel really fits the progressive mindset Boulder is known for. Solar-powered, mindful of water conservation, energy-efficient appliances and a hotel that also uses natural, chemical-free products, it’s a healthy choice for your pet.

Pet services include pet-friendly rooms with treats and gift at check-in. Water bowls for dogs are provided, as are litter boxes for cats. Two pets, up to 75 pounds each, are permitted a $15 fee each night, plus a $100 refundable deposit.

4. Millennium Harvest House Boulder

The Millennium Harvest House is centrally located in Boulder and welcomes up to two pets in its pet-friendly, standard rooms. There is a $25 fee each night per pet up to $100 per stay. A $250 refundable pet-deposit is also required.

5. Holiday Inn Express Boulder

Up to two pets of any size can stay here for a fee of $25 a night, up to $50 per stay. Additional pets are permitted with approval from management before arrival.
