The Spa at St Julien has been a longstanding cornerstone of Boulder’s wellness scene, celebrating two decades of serving Boulder. But this legacy spa is also constantly evolving and adapting alongside the modern definition of self-care.
Fresh off a “Best Spa in the World” accolade from ELLE magazine, the property recently introduced a slate of new and refreshed treatments that lean into cutting-edge, touchless technologies while addressing deeper, more personalized wellness needs—particularly for women navigating hormonal changes.

The updated menu reflects a broader industry shift away from occasional indulgence and toward results-driven, intentional care that fits into everyday life. “People are looking for quicker fixes, and more meaningful results,” says Karin Boyer, spa director for St Julien Hotel & Spa. “Wellness has shifted from being a once-a-year spa day to an everyday thoughtfulness on how to improve your looks and longevity.”

Among the new highlights is the Oxygen Awakening facial, a treatment designed to revive dull, dehydrated skin—an especially common concern in Boulder’s dry, high-elevation climate. The facial combines deep exfoliation with essential minerals and nutrients to deliver what the spa describes as an “effervescent” infusion of hydration, helping to smooth fine lines, refine pores and restore luminosity. The treatment uses products from Natura Bissé—a globally recognized skincare line known for its performance-driven formulas—to boost radiance and resilience.
“In a higher altitude, the Oxygen Awakening facial pairs well with this climate and travelers who are new to the area,” says Boyer.
It’s also specifically tailored to meet the needs of women in perimenopause and menopause, periods when sudden moisture loss and increased sensitivity caused by hormonal shifts can make skincare more challenging.

Notably, the spa’s renewed focus on women’s wellbeing—particularly during perimenopause and menopause—addresses a longstanding gap in the wellness industry. As conversations around hormonal health and metabolic resilience become more mainstream, many spas—including Spa at St Julien—are beginning to tailor treatments to these life stages.
“There is an industry focus on hormonal health, and many of our female spa guests are in this phase of life,” says Boyer.

And for those seeking enhanced results, the Oxygen Awakening + Celluma LED option incorporates red light therapy, a form of touchless wellness technology that’s rapidly gaining traction.
“It’s using a modality to achieve or maximize, in this case, facial results,” says Boyer. “You can be under the Celluma red light and see faster results with skin rejuvenation. It reverses signs of aging and acne, stimulates collagen production and calms inflammation.”

Another new standout is the Nanorenew Infusion Facial, a non-invasive treatment that uses a Nano Infusion MicroPen and to enhance the absorption of an age-defying serum—by as much as 97 percent, according to the spa. The treatment, which is designed to strengthen and hydrate your skin while also softening fine lines and wrinkles, also includes a light exfoliation, Knesko Gold Repair collagen face mask and Celluma LED red light therapy.
Similarly, the Nanorenew Essential Facial focuses on hydration, barrier support and skin renewal. After a gentle exfoliation, your skin is infused with a marine collagen serum to deeply hydrate and support a healthy, plump complexion. A calming, hydrating mask is massaged into the skin to soothe and restore, followed by nourishing finishing products.

Both of these treatments centered around a device that creates microscopic channels in the skin, allowing active ingredients like serums to penetrate more effectively, all without the downtime or numbing agents associated with more aggressive procedures. It’s a comprehensive option for guests seeking visible, yet gentle, rejuvenation.
“The nano-needling treatment has no downtime or numbing agents needed,” Boyer says. “It promotes smoother, more luminous-looking skin, softens fine lines and allows better product absorption. Because we are not a med spa, it can still offer immediate results for a luxury spa setting.”

Beyond these new offerings, the Spa at St Julien is also spotlighting vitamin C-infused massages and facials that are designed to restore vitality and suppleness to sun-damaged, saggy, dull or aging skin. And for a more comprehensive beauty experience, the property offers a full-service hair salon and natural nail care.
As the spa celebrates its 20th anniversary, these updates underscore a commitment to both innovation and continuity. In a town known for its wellness ethos, the Spa at St Julien is proving that even established institutions can adapt—blending high-touch luxury with high-tech solutions for a more purposeful approach to beauty and wellbeing.
In December, the spa was named to Elle magazine’s 2025 list of the best spas in the world, which featured just 42 properties across the globe. The Spa at St Julien was one of just two Colorado spas named to the list, along with the Spa at The Little Nell in Aspen.
“We want to make sure we are continuing to grow with the needs of our guests while maintaining the luxury experience our guests have come to expect,” says Boyer. “As the go-to spa in Boulder, we need to have our finger on what’s relevant—and be able to offer those services in a way that honors our history while anticipating the next generation of self-care.”
