Zikr Dance Ensemble: Lifting the Veil

The Zikr Dance Ensemble – led by nationally acclaimed choreographer David Taylor – fuses transcendent rituals from ancient cultures with contemporary dance/theatre realizations. Artistically stimulating, as well as intellectually captivating, Zikr’s live performances are complemented by stunning visual effects and projections, creating multimedia experiences that have mesmerized audiences.

Lifting the Veil, conceived and developed by Zikr Artistic Director David Taylor and premiering in 2021, focuses on the hidden forces that have been directing and assisting mankind for centuries and which now are being revealed in our current age. This spectacular new work will feature breathtaking film projections and digital graphic effects created by cutting-edge visual artist Travis Powell from Deep Space Drive-In and a stunning set design by internationally acclaimed visual artist George Peters. The program also will include encore performances of Zikr’s critically acclaimed Oracle, which will feature a new set by designer Jeff Rusnak, and Runes.
