Currently working on his debut record with top producers in Atlanta, Matt Walker is excited see his songs come to life and share them with the world. Matt’s roots come from small town life in Wakefield, Rhode Island. There was always music in the house, mostly the band Chicago. In 1998 he migrated South to Elon College N.C., where he started performing at local dive bars and frat parties, getting paid mostly in beer. Graduating right after Sept 11th he moved to Atlanta to find a job in the most uncertain times. “I couldn’t find a job for four months and my credit card was running out of room. My roommates sister Kim suggested I go down to Buckhead and see if local artist and booking agent Francisco Vidal could help me get a gig. We met on Tuesday and that Friday I was opening up for the house band.” It wasn’t until a trip to Macchu Picchu that things really came into perspective and Matt decided to pursue his music full-time. “After seeing that amazing place I just couldn’t go back to spending my day in a cubicle. So I didn’t. I took another month and backpacked around Bolivia being free.” He’s been quietly living his life and putting in his 10,000 hours, working on his voice, and living his lyrics. “You can’t write songs until you’ve had your balls busted and your heart broken.” Now based in Tampa Bay but taking the show on the road for his first full scale tour in 2018.
