3rd Law Dance/Theater: Un-Still Life

UN-STILL LIFE is a collective performance inspired by a central theme. 3rd Law ventures into a new realm as company members join artistic director Katie Elliott to create an evening of diverse choreographic perspectives. Together they build a platform for emerging and seasoned artists to support each other in the creation of new dance works. Choreographers include: Katie Elliott, Kat Gurley, Danielle Hendricks, Page Jenkins, Jamie Melaragno Schuler, Michelle Pugh, and Christine Rohde.

“Un-Still Life” explores the transforming impulse of a moving still life and how color has the potential to stimulate a range of senses. The magic of a still life (in visual art) is that a new way of looking at ordinary objects is revealed. The ordinary takes on personal, cultural, and philosophical meaning. What does it look like when a still image is turned into movement? How do we move from the 2D to the 3D space?
