If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind, handmade, unusual gift this holiday season, Boulder County’s artists and crafters have a sleigh full of creations just for the occasion. You can find holiday craft markets all winter; there are multiple to pick from every week. Whether you’re on a budget or looking for something special, these gifts are locally made, unique and typically inexpensive.
Here’s a look at some of the holiday arts and crafts markets in Boulder County this winter.
Dec. 1
Winter Market: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 1-2, Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Road, Longmont. Browse booths of more than 100 local vendors, farms, ranchers and artists. Find everything from fresh produce to baked goods, wine, jewelry, home goods and more. Live music and free kids’ activities make this a fun event.
Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism Annual Holiday Faire and Open House: 12-5 p.m. Dec. 1-2, CSCH, 424 E. Simpson St., Lafayette. Shop for holiday gifts and experience the school’s open house and showcase of botanical crafters. Find herbal products, food, mini-classes, chair massage and more.
Local Authors’ Holiday Book Sale: 12-4 p.m. Dec. 1-2, Rayback Collective, 2775 Valmont Road, Boulder. Browse books in a variety of genres by more than 15 local authors. The annual event is hosted by the Boulder County Indie Authors.
Holiday Mountain Market: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 1 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 2, Nederland Community Center, 750 Colo. Highway 72 North, Nederland. More than 60 vendors will be selling handmade art and crafts. There’s also live entertainment and pics with Santa.
Lyons Holiday Craft Bazaar: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 1 and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 2, Lyons Elementary School, 388 High St., Lyons. More than 60 artists and crafters will sell glass, pottery, jewelry, textiles and more.
Dec. 2
Unity Holiday Craft Fair: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 2, Unity of Boulder, 2855 Folsom St., Boulder. The annual Christmas craft fair features handmade gifts. Also enjoy free cookies and hot apple cider, carolers and Santa Claus.
Dec. 6

Craft + Brew Christmas Crafting: 5:30-8 p.m. Dec. 6, Left Hand Brewing Co., 1265 Boston Ave., Longmont. Want to make your own crafts for the holidays? You can find a variety of events throughout December, including this event hosted by Cut and Baste Co. Drink beer and make easy Christmas ornaments. No experience necessary.
Dec. 7
Studio Arts Boulder Holiday Sale: 4-7 p.m. Dec. 7; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 8; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 9, Flatiron Press, 1147 Pearl St., Boulder. Check out this pottery sale, featuring work by local artists and teachers.
ARTastic Holiday Market: 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Dec. 7, Horizons K8 School, 4545 Sioux Drive, Boulder. Raise money for the school and shop more than 40 artists and vendors, featuring photography, clothes, jewelry, food, soap, paintings and more.
Dec. 8

Longmont Handcrafted Artisan Market: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 8-9, Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Road, Longmont. The 2nd annual event highlights more than 40 vendors’ handmade creations, from jewelry to paintings.
Holiday Bazaar at the Dairy Arts Center: 12-7 p.m. Dec. 8, Dairy Arts Center, 2590 Walnut St., Boulder. Shop mostly local artisans, everything from ceramics to trinkets to handmade goods to textiles and art. Artists will be in the lobby and atrium. Enjoy the displays and meet the makers.
Holiday Craft Fayre: 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 8, Left Hand Grange, 195 Second Ave., Niwot. Shop locally-made and handmade products and pick up baked goods with a British influence. Santa will be there, too.
Dec. 9
Boulder Holiday Gift Festival: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 9, Boulder YMCA, 2850 Mapleton Ave., Boulder. This big shopping extravaganza features more than 100 different merchants. The festival features a wide selection of locally made gifts, plus a holiday concert at noon.
Dec. 15
Last Chance Gift Fest: 5-9 p.m. Dec. 15 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 16, Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Road, Longmont. Procrastinating your holiday shopping pays off at this huge event, where more than 175 Colorado vendors come together to sell their arts, crafts, home decor, food and more. The free event also has live music and activities for all ages.
