From festivals to concerts and more, check out these Boulder-area events that are fun for the whole family.

Boulder Fine Art Street Festival – July 30-31

 

Head to the Twenty Ninth Street mall this weekend for the second year of the Boulder Fine Art Street Festival, which features local and national artists. The festival is outdoors and admission is free.

Opera in the Park – July 29-30

 

Marvel at the incredible voices of Boulder Opera’s rising stars under the stars at the Boulder Bandshell with Opera in the Park. They’ll be singing classic arias and scenes from Handel, Mozart, Bellini, Verdi, Floyd, Heggie and more. There’s also a fenced beer garden and you can bring a picnic. This is Boulder Opera’s 11th season.

RockyGrass – July 29-31

 

Nothing says summer quite like jamming out to live bluegrass against the beautiful Lyons’ foothills at RockyGrass. Plus, this is the beloved festival’s 50th year, so there’s even more reason to celebrate. Check out the full lineup online.

Steve Earle & the Dukes at Chautauqua Auditorium – Aug. 3

 

Part of the “outlaw country movement, Earle just released his 22nd album, “Jerry Jeff,” a little over a month ago. He brings together rock, folk and country sounds, with a big focus on lyricism.

Catch the show at Chautauqua Auditorium at 7:30 on Aug. 3.

The Spongebob Musical – various dates through Aug. 20

 

Kiddos will love watching “The Spongebob Musical” at the BDT Stage, as it includes recognizable characters, hilarious jokes and fun songs. Evening shows are at 6 p.m. and matinees are at noon. Your ticket includes a featured entree, bread and a salad.

Boulder County Fair – Aug. 11-14

 

A Boulder County tradition for 153 years, the Boulder County Fair is a can’t-miss event of the summer. Play at the carnival, check out the 4-H shows and exhibits, munch on tasty fair foods, watch live performances and just generally spend time together as a family at the fairgrounds in Longmont.

Rocky Mountain Folks Festival – Aug. 12-14

Join fellow music lovers for three days of camping, music and general inspiration at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, hosted by Planet Bluegrass in Lyons. Enjoy the scenery along the St. Vrain River as you listen to incredible performers.

Colorado Brazil Fest – Aug. 11-Aug. 13

Hosted by the Boulder Samba School, the only group in the state that promotes Brazilian culture, the Colorado Brazil Fest is one of the largest in the country. Check out the community performances, Brazilian jazz and bossa-nona, the samba and carnival show and more at the Boulder Bandshell.

Boulder Creek Hometown Festival – Aug. 19-21

Don’t miss the Boulder Creek Hometown Festival, featuring exhibitor booths, a beer garden, a food court and fun live performances at the Boulder Bandshell by groups like Soul School and Wash Park.
